What a long hard day it has been. We got up early to daven and the we were on the bus by eight thirty. On the way to Auschwitz we got a chance to learn another piece in the Eish Kodesh. In this particular piece the Eish Kodesh wonders how we van find comfort in times like his own, that so many youngsters were dying? What could possibly comfort us after such tragedy? He very poignantly refers us to the famous verse- Nachamu Nachamu Ami. Only G-d himself can provide the comfort insuch times because naturally comfort is impossible.
Once we got to Auschwitz it was a very moving experience for everyone to walk around the camp and hear personal reflections from Max and important information from Jack.
Inside the gas chambers we reflected on the famous last words of dying Jews throughout history. Shema Yisroel. It is those words that we uttered together inside the gas chambers. In crematorium 1, in Auschwitz Max led in reciting Kaddish.
After lunch, we drove to Birkenau. There we hears from Jimmy a survivor of that camp. We toured the camp and again we heard some moving stories And personal reflection throughout the camp.
By the ash pit next to crematorium 2 we recited a Kel Male for all those that perishes there. I especially had in mind my grandfathers family that perishd there.
I will continue In a new post.
