We headed down to Rechovot to an ammunition factory. This factory was an underground facility in a Kibbutz that was secretly producing bullets that would ultimately play a key role in winning Israel's independence.
On the bus we has a very interesting Discussion about the Gemara says that whoever lives in the diaspora it is as if he has no G-D. We discussed about the spirituality of Israel and the ability to find G-d and the inspiration to find Him, which is much more obvious and clearer here in Israel.
After lunch we volunteered in Carmel, clearing away brush to prevent the next forest fire.
From there we headed to Acco. After a guided tour of the wonderful ghetto fighters museum, we went to the Hesder Yeshiva. We had a vey meaningful and heartfelt program there. I think the students really got a deeper appreciation for the soldiers and the responsibilities of living in Israel in general.
Tomorrow Yom HaZikaron continues and then morphs into Yom HaAtzmaut. I look forward to sharing these complicated emotions with our students
Good Night Y'All
