Israel

What a whirlwind it has been the last two days. Yesterday we davened overlooking the old city on the Haas Promenade and then we did some half-asleep tree planting. Afterwards we ate lunch on Ben Yehudah. We had our fits ice cafe and shwarma of the trip. An early supper was followed by some much needed sleep.
This morning we got an early wake up to daven, eat breakfast and board the bus for Masada. On the bus we had a discussion about the land of Israel based on a Torah thought by Rav Meir Shapiro. He notices the verse specifically mentions Israel as being flowing with the milk and honey, but in reality Israel is also referred to as the land that lacks for nothing, so what s the meaning of these 2 elements. Perhaps says Rabbi Shapiro even though honey is produced by bees and milk by a lice cow and this respective sources in their present state are not kosher (live cow lacks slaughter) still these 2 particular foods are kosher, because the land of Israel has the ability to make Kosher even what has a not kosher source. This is the beauty of the land, holiness can be found even the land no matter the spiritual flaws one has. Pay attention and grown in tis land, it has incredible powers.
we experienced some of those magical powers this morning we discussed the heroism and resistance of those that held on Masada. We also had a great discussion on the top of the mountain about suicide under those conditions if it is commendable or not.
Following Masada and lunch we visited Ein Gedi and learnt about King David's escapades with King Saul. This place was the place where King David shows his humility and ultimately proves himself worthy of kingship.
We hiked and swam in beautiful Nachal David.
Now we are getting ready for Shabbat, Shabbat in Yerushalyim.
Shabbat Shalom
